Texas, hold’em storms!
Flood risk increases by the end of week.

A series of storms and fronts will impact the Plains this week, with Texas included. There will be the risk of severe weather, but the greatest risk seems to come on Friday with another thick round of storms that will increase the flooding threat.

We have a beautiful start to the day across Texas on Tuesday before isolated to scattered severe storms move into the Panhandle in the evening hours. Later this week, the WeatherRadar becomes more active.

By Thursday, the south winds will prime the Lone Star State with lots of moisture and warmth. The tail end of a stationary front will likely increase the cloud coverage for the Rio Grande Valley, also contributing to the instability in the area is a low-pressure system coming out of northern Mexico.

Attacking from the northwest is the next low-pressure system an a connecting front that will drag east and south on Friday. But remember, since the winds shifted earlier in the week, bringing in plenty of moisture, it won’t take much for the storms to drop a plethora of water.

A flood risk is focused over central Texas through the Metroplex and the Edward Plateau. Cities like San Antonio, Austin, Waco, San Angelo, and DFW should be monitored closely as storms will become stagnant and charged with lots of moisture. Houston could also deal with heavy showers, leading to isolated flooding and flooding in prone areas.

The rains are set to continue through Saturday, becoming more persistent and that's when the flood risk increases for the heart of Texas and the aforementioned cities.

We will continue to bring you updates throughout the week. Please keep in mind that rain totals this early in the week will vary, and you must keep an eye on the forecast. Have at least three ways to receive a weather warning.
