Breakfast Brief
Quiet week continues

We sound like a broken record stuck playing the same tune, but the weather across the U.S. remains quiet and trouble-free.

The WeatherRadar shows the sun shining from the Pacific Coast eastward to the Southeast's Atlantic today. There are two lingering spots of trouble. Clouds and rain extend from the Rockies into the Upper Midwest while a few spots of the Northeast will see periods of clouds once again today.

Once again, it is unseasonably hot across large stretches of the U.S. The TemperatureRadar shows afternoon highs in the 80s across the Southwest, Texas, South and the Southeast . A few spots in northern Texas, Oklahoma, eastern Kansas and the Desert Southwest will be in the 90s this afternoon.

Even the Midwest, Mississippi Valley and Mid-Atlantic will be in the 70s this afternoon. This is still 5 to 10 degrees warmer than usual.

A few daily records could be broken in Dallas, Austin and Waco, Texas, and Oklahoma City.

Cooler weather will be found across the Northwest, Great Basin, Northern Rockies and the interior Northeast. These spots will be in the upper 40s and 50s, so jackets will be needed.

2005 Hurricane Wilma

On this day in 2005, Hurricane Wilma hit Cape Romano, Fla., as a category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds peaking at 120 mph. It caused extensive wind damage across southern Florida and storm surge flooded many parts of the Florida Keys.
